J-1 Visa – Summer Work and Travel (SWT) 2008
To apply for SWT 2008 at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, you must:
- Be enrolled in a full-time course of post-secondary study and pursuing a degree from an accredited educational institution;
- Demonstrate you will resume studies after participating in SWT;
- Be studying in Russia, even if you are not a Russian citizen;
- Demonstrate English proficiency at a level at which you can successfully perform your job and live in the U.S.
Students who have completed their final year of study, even if they have not formally graduated, are not eligible.
Applications may be submitted to the Embassy between February 5 and April 6, 2007, between 2:00 and 3:00 PM.
Applications must include:
- Coversheet which includes full name, date of birth, university name and location, year of study, number of times already participated in SWT;
- Floppy disc containing applicants’ data. This data needs to be created using the software provided by the Embassy;
- Visa processing fee;
- Required documents:
- Visa application form DS-156 with a color photo of the applicant against a light background, DS-157 (for men ages 16-45), and DS-158. The recruiter’s seal is required on each DS-156.;
- DS-2019 – original, plus one copy;
- Student spravka;
- Copy of student ID card;
- Copy of job letter (if available);
- A valid passport.
In addition, applicants are required to go to the Embassy for an interview and fingerprinting.
